Children was commisioned by the Festival Al Bustan in Lebanon for the year 2000 Festival. The poem is extracted from the famous opus, The prophet, by the lebanese poet and philosopher Gibran Khalil Gibran (1883—1931). The through-composed music is punctuated by a recall of a key-sentence : "Your children are not your children". The dynamics evolve towards the brilliant and rhythmical coda which put in relief the driving philosophy of the words : "Let your bending in the Archer's hand be for gladness".
