Fantaisie symphonique pour orgue

La fantaisie IN ORGANO, CHORDIS ET CHORO est une commande des "Amis de l'Orgue Saint-Martin Dudelange", Luxembourg, pour l'inauguration de leur orgue Stahlhuth (1912) restauré par la manufacture Thomas Jann (2001-2002). Son titre - Par les orgues, les cordes et la danse - s'inspire du Psaume 150. Il s'agit d'une paraphrase sur des thèmes grégoriens et populaires, dans l'esprit d'une procession jubilatoire, d'un monde livré à la Joie, au lendemain de Noül. La partition répond, dans un style naïf et flamboyant, aux majestueuses fresques de la nef centrale de l'église Saint-Martin, figurant des saints et saintes rayonnant à partir de Bethléem et de Dudelange. Les principaux thèmes développés sont : l'Alleluia de l'Épiphanie, l'hymne Jesu Redemptor omnium, un chant populaire breton, Salut, Ô Sainte Crèche et une chanson populaire alsacienne, Uff em Berjel, bin ich g'sässe (Quand je suis à la montagne). Ils se développent sous une forme libre avec des caractéristiques de la variation symphonique et de la forme sonate.

Symphonic fantasy for organ

The fantasia In organo, chordis et choro was commissioned by the "Amis de l'Orgue Saint-Martin Dudelange" in Luxemburg for the inauguration of their Stahlhuth organ (1912) as restored by the organ-builder Thomas Jann (2001-2002). Its title - 'With organ, strings and dance' - was inspired by Psalm 150. It is a paraphrase of Gregorian and folk melodies in the manner of a jubilant procession, a world given over to Joy in the days after Christmas. The score replies, in a naïve and flamboyant style, to the majestic frescos in the central nave of the church of Saint Martin which represents saints both male and female radiating out from Bethlehem and Dudelange. The principle themes developed are: the Alleluia of the Epiphany, the hymn Jesu redemptor omnium, a Breton folksong, Salut, Ô Sainte Crèche (Hail, Holy Crib) and an Alsatian folksong, Uff em Berjel, bin ich g'sässe (When I am on the mountain). They are freely developed with touches of symphonic variation and sonata form.

Die Fantasie IN ORGANO, CHORDIS ET CHORO wurde von den "Freunden der Orgel der Martinskirche Düdelingen" in Luxemburg in Auftrag gegeben, und zwar zur Einweihung ihrer Stahlhuth-Orgel von 1912, die 2001 und 2002 von der Orgelbau-Werkstatt Thomas Jann restauriert worden ist. Ihr Titel Mit Orgeln, Saiten und Reigen leitet sich vom 150. Psalm ab. Es handelt sich bei diesem Werk um die Verarbeitung gregorianischer und volkstümlicher Themen zu einer musikalischen Darstellung eines fröhlichen Umzugs von feiernden Menschen am Tag nach Weihnachten. Die unprätentiöse, heitere Musik nimmt dabei Bezug auf die Fresken im Hauptschiff der Martinskirche, auf denen Heilige dargestellt sind, die von Bethlehem und von Düdelingen aus in alle Welt ziehen. Die diesem Werk zugrundeliegenden Hauptthemen sind das Halleluja des Dreikönigsfests, die Hymne Jesu Redemptor omnium, das bretonische Volkslied Salut, Ô Sainte Crèche (Sei gegrüßt, oh Heilige Krippe) sowie ein Volkslied aus dem Elsaß Uff em Berjel, bin ich g'sässe. Die Fantasie ist zwar in einer freien Form komponiert, es finden sich aber Elemente aus der symphonischen Variation und der Sonatenform.
