This Toccata for piano duet is inspired by Alberto Pestalozza's famous song Ciribiribin, whose lyrical charm Naji Hakim transforms through a continuously flowing and virtuosic pianistic writing.

The first section, in F major, unfolds over an unbroken stream of semiquavers in the secondo, while the melody—played by the primo in doubled octaves and counterpointed by amphibrachic chordal figures—moves forward with rhythmic vitality and a light, propulsive touch.

In the second section, in D major, the writing becomes fully toccata-like: primo and secondo engage in a spirited dialogue, alternating and competing in brilliance and rhythmic drive.

A central portion of Pestalozza's original theme has been deliberately omitted to preserve the unity of character in this Toccata, where the source material serves as a springboard for a concertante fantasy of exuberant joy.

Cette Toccata pour piano à quatre mains s'inspire du célèbre air Ciribiribin d'Alberto Pestalozza, dont Naji Hakim conserve l'esprit chantant tout en le transfigurant par une écriture pianistique d'une virtuosité continue.

La première section, en fa majeur, déploie un accompagnement de doubles croches ininterrompues au secondo, tandis que la mélodie, confiée au primo à deux octaves d'intervalle et soutenue par un contrepoint d'accords en rythme amphibraque, avance avec une vivacité rythmique et une légèreté de toucher qui confèrent à l'ensemble un élan irrésistible.

Dans la seconde partie, en ré majeur, l'écriture devient pleinement toccatique : le primo et le secondo s'y répondent et rivalisent d'énergie dans un jeu d'éclats et de croisements virtuoses.

Une section centrale du thème original a été volontairement élidée afin de préserver l'unité de caractère propre à cette Toccata, où le matériau de Pestalozza devient prétexte à une fantaisie concertante d'esprit jubilatoire.
