The improvised character and certain melodic contours of this Meditation, reveal the musical and spiritual inspiration of the titular organist of the Basilique du Sacré-Cœur of the years 1985-1993. The incipit of the Gregorian antiphon "Ego dormivi", from Easter Sunday, frames the piece, evoking other quotes or paraphrases of the same theme in several works by Naji Hakim, including the 2nd movement of the Sonata for solo violin (1994).
