This carol is based on an aramean text by St Ephrem, 4th century. The melody dates from an earlier period and is considered as the oldest in the maronite repertoire.

Ce noël est bâti sur un texte araméen de St Ephrem, IVe siècle. La mélodie date d'une période antérieure ; elle est considérée comme la plus ancienne du répertoire maronite.
