A work of gracious and romantic character, Prends mon cœur unfolds a lyrical, expressive line within a ternary form, like a prayer slowly revealing itself. At the center, the primo offers bell-like harmonies, while the secondo, in the warmth of the tenor register, carries the melody as one carries a faithful flame. In the recapitulation, the original line is entrusted again to the primo, while the secondo adorns it with arabesques, a tremor of semiquavers that lifts its breath. Thus the music takes shape with the quiet persistence of a faith striving to name the unnameable.

This Marian prayer was long sung by my father, with my mother at the piano. Now that he is gone, she still murmurs it, though age no longer allows her hands to touch the keyboard. In communion with their prayer, I wrote this arrangement to offer it to the Blessed Virgin Mary on December 8, 2025, the feast of the Immaculate Conception.

Œuvre de caractère gracieux et romantique, Prends mon cœur déroule une ligne lyrique et expressive dans une forme ternaire, comme une prière qui se dévoile peu à peu. Au centre, le primo déploie des harmonies carillonnantes, tandis que le secondo, dans la chaleur du registre de ténor, porte la mélodie comme on porte une flamme fidèle. À la réexposition, la ligne originelle revient au primo, tandis que le secondo l’orne d’arabesques, en un frémissement de doubles croches qui en élève le souffle. Ainsi la musique se dessine, avec l’obstination tranquille d’une foi cherchant à dire l’indicible.

Cette prière mariale fut longtemps chantée par mon père, ma mère l’accompagnant au piano. Aujourd’hui, mon père n’étant plus, c’est elle qui la murmure encore, bien que l’âge ne lui permette plus de toucher le clavier. En communion avec leur prière, j’ai écrit cet arrangement pour l’offrir à la Bienheureuse Vierge Marie, le 8 décembre 2025, jour de la fête de l’Immaculée Conception.
