Inspired by the quiet poetry of Stjernenatt, this piece evokes the contemplation of a nocturnal landscape in which the starry sky seems to be reflected in the calm of the sea. A brief introduction alternating open-string pizzicati and natural harmonics suggests the appearance of the first stars. Repeated at the centre of the work, it frames two expansions of a legato melodic line unfolding freely above broad arpeggiated harmonies, in a supple rhythm that evokes the freedom of improvisation. The piece concludes in a peaceful atmosphere, where high harmonics shimmer like stars suspended in the night.
