Tafta Hindi (“Indian Taffeta”) is a Levantine traditional song once sung by street vendors praising their oriental fabrics. Its simple, repetitive text reflects the influence of ancient trade routes linking India to the Arab world. Tafta Hindi (« Taffetas indien ») est une chanson traditionnelle du Levant, jadis chantée par les marchands ambulants vantant leurs étoffes d’Orient. Son texte simple et répétitif illustre l’empreinte des anciennes routes commerciales reliant l’Inde au monde arabe. Dans cet arrangement pour piano à quatre mains, le caractère gracieux du thème s’épanouit dans la rencontre de la variation et de la ritournelle.
